Join Harlene Anderson and her Grupo Campos Eliseos colleagues in Simply Paradise for a unique in-depth learning opportunity: Enjoy their warm hospitality and immerse yourself in a week of exploring postmodern/social construction collaborative philosophy and practices with people from around the world. Learn about the heart and spirit of collaborative practices -a philosophical stance- and see it in action. The Mayan Riviera (www.mayanriviera.com & www.yucatan.com) and Hotel Las Palapas (www.laspalapas.com) beach resort atmosphere of lazy afternoons and summer evenings provide ample time for the beach, cultural activities, networking, small conversational clusters, and informal opportunities to consult with Harlene and her colleagues.

Harlene Anderson and Harry Goolishian developed and introduced a postmodern collaborative therapy: Harlene continues to broaden and deepen her collaborative approach and to apply it to training, research, mentoring and organizational consultation. The Summer Institute continues to be a significant contribution to this effort. Importantly, it continues to provide a space for practitioners to learn, share their work with others and further develop the growing international community of collaborative practitioners.

New Design: The 2010 Institute is designed to better meet the needs of participants with extensive experience in collaborative practice and those newer to it. The symposium format will immerse participants in collaborative ideas and practices through: didactic presentations, small workshops by international guests that demonstrate the application of collaborative practices in a variety of contexts and with various client populations, live consultations, special topic interest groups, experiential exercises, poster sessions, and networking. International guests include Pavel Nupstil, Prague, Czech Republic, Chris Kinman, Vancouver, Canada, among others.

The benefit to you: - study with Harlene and international colleagues - expand your creativity and competency in postmodern collaborative practices - revitalize yourself and your practices - network with other collaborative practitioners from around the world

Refresh your Supervisor Skills "on the beach." Please join us!

The refresher course track is offered in response to the growing number of supervisors who want to study in a residential setting -- to refresh their approach to supervision and other learning activities and to learn about supervising, teaching and training from a postmodern collaborative perspective. The aim of the Course is to provide participants with an engaging experience in theory and practice of creating learning environments, relationships and processes that are collaborative and generative--all in a beautiful and relaxing beach setting. The course is designed for experienced, new and potential supervisors, teachers and trainers in various agency, university, community and private contexts.

Faculty: Harlene Anderson, Ph.D. AAMFT/TXLMFT/TXLPC Approved Supervisor.

Purpose: The course provides a forum for supervisors to enhance their supervision knowledge and skills and to become familiar with current supervision practices, research, and literature. It is designed to meet the requirements of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) refresher course requirements. The course may be used for continuing education hours.

Focus: The course focuses on practical/clinical, theoretical, legal, ethical, professional, research, and relationship issues related to supervision and supervision mentoring. There is an emphasis on supervision from a postmodern collaborative perspective--drawing on the metaphors of social construction and narrative theories-- within the broader context and history of systemic/family therapy theories.

Format: A dynamic and intensive didactic and interactive experience based in a collaborative learning community philosophy will provide participants opportunities to meet the learning objective and to network with other supervisors. The format will include didactic, videotape, consultation, and observation of supervision, reflecting processes, experiential exercises, literature review, and discussions. Certificate of Completion: A certificate of completion will be provided by the Houston Galveston Institute. A bilingual event.

Continuing Education Hours: 5 Hours including 1 hour of ethics
