New Faculty Welcomed: We are pleased to announce the appointments of two new faculty members, Jose Bayona, M.D. and Thelma Jean Goodrich, Ph.D. Both Jose and Thelma Jean work in family medicine, training medical students and family practitioners at the University of Texas-Health Science Center. Jose, originally from Puerto Rico, has worked closely with Susan McDaniel at the University of Rochester, and developed a holistic community health center model during his time there. Thelma Jean, after working in New York City at Columbia University's Medical School, returned to Texas and has recently co-edited the book Feminist Family Therapy: Empowerment in Social Context with Louise B. Silverstein. "The Show Must Go On" Training Guide For Sale: A comprehensive guide to running performance/improv groups from a postmodern perspective is now on sale for therapists and other group leaders. Some of the people who might use this manual include: school counselors, group home managers, organizational consultants, teachers/professors, supervisors, and team leaders. The guide illustrates how our team at HGI translated improv games and ACTivities© to work with families "growing through divorce". Ten workshop topics are described as well as descriptions and instructions for a multitude of games. The guide can be purchased for $35.00, plus shipping. Please contact HGI or Saliha Bava for more information. February Visitor Study Program: Harlene Anderson will lead a one-week intensive Visitor Study Program from February 16-20th. This group provides a learning environment for professionals and students traveling from the U.S. and abroad. A balance of theory and practice, participation and reflection, allows the learner to experience a collaborative, social constructionist, and postmodern approach to therapy. Fees are $500 for the week. Please contact Saliha Bava or Harlene Anderson for more information. |
